I first came across Samuel D’Saboia on Instagram and immediately reached out to him to discuss his work. After some correspondence he agreed to take us along for a day in his life (which was very entertaining) using our Instagram stories. We continued our correspondence and began talking about doing a show here in New York.
Samuel and I worked together to secure his visa and began planning for October’s show entitled Belas Feridas (Beautiful Wounds). Following the deaths of five of his close friends this year, the show explores love, violence and mortality through painting and sculpture works.
Both of us being incredibly busy (in two separate places in the same city), we decided to have our chat over text.
